Luminar’s fee differs each year – click here to see how much it costs today, but in general, it’s around $70. Users can install it on up to two computers for commercial purposes, or five PCs for non-commercial purposes. Affinity Photo charges a one-off fee of US$49.99. Try entering Luminar coupon code SHOTKIT15 at checkout to save $15.īoth Luminar 4 and Affinity are available as a one-time investment for Windows and Mac OS. Luminar’s Edit and Library functions are separate, and an information section displays metadata about exposure settings.Ĭonsidering that both applications have slick, customizable, easy-to-use interfaces (despite an initial learning curve), we can’t pick a clear winner here. Like Affinity, it has a configurable interface and allows you to choose which adjustments you’d like to have displayed in the control panel. Luminar, meanwhile, is known for its simplicity and a clear user interface. The photo interface of Affinity Photo is also highly customizable so you can change it to fit your needs – this is similar to Affinity Designer, the software for graphic designers who want something like Adobe Illustrator but without the monthly fees. See our Affinity Photo review to learn more. Once you get the hang of it though, Affinity is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Export Persona (for saving your images)īecause the system of Personas is unique to Affinity it can be confusing at first.Develop Persona (for RAW photo development).Photo Persona (for retouching & editing). These make the workspace less cluttered by refining your focus to one task at a time. The image you’re working on sits in the center and control panels run on the side or top of the workspace.Īs we touched on previously, Affinity Photo divides its primary functions into sections called Personas. Luminar’s interface is stylish and intuitive.īoth Luminar and Affinity Photo have a similar general layout and design aesthetic. It’s just a matter of pre-developing in the Develop Persona first and then making your more complex adjustments on top of that. That said, if you can get around the workflow issues, Affinity Photo is certainly very powerful for detailed, slick photo edits. In picking a winner here, we’re going with Luminar because the workflow is more streamlined, plus you can easily sync adjustments made in one image with any other photos in the image library – a great time-saver, especially for professional photographers (see our Luminar tutorial to see how simple it is to get started.) Any adjustments can be tightly and selectively applied to parts of an image using masks, and it tends to allow for very accurate edits.Īs mentioned above, it wouldn’t be unfair to think of Luminar as being more like Lightroom and Affinity Photo as being more like Photoshop when it comes to image development. Luminar, meanwhile, allows for non-destructive image editing in a single workflow. Additionally, batch processing is limited to one Persona at a time. This two-step process sets Affinity at a bit of a disadvantage because it means that you can’t easily change your initial adjustments once you’ve moved from one Persona to the next. The thing about this is that you really need to commit to your RAW adjustments first in the Develop Persona before you can move across to the Photo Persona and make use of its more powerful tools for advanced editing. The main difference between Luminar and Affinity Photo when it comes to RAW image development is the workflow.Īffinity Photo has different areas called “personas”: pre-processing is done in the Develop Persona, while detailed photo editing happens in the Photo Persona.

8/4/2023 0 Comments Lnav logNot sure if this is what you're looking for, but I came across this awesome little tool called lnav (Logfile Navigator) that might be of interest. May be more widely applicable for personal servers: lnav, an advanced log file viewer for the terminal: It uses SQLite internally but can parse log files in many formats on the fly. Show HN: Log collector that runs on a $4 VPS I believe they exist, but I also was thinking about possible caveats. To watch the output of log file with timestamps prepended: lnav -t /var/log/nginx/access.log. To load a particular log file, provide its absolute path. To load all of the files in /var/log: lnav /var/log. I tried to google about how to quickly run ELK in Docker locally (I had no prior experience in setting ELK up), but haven't found good tutorials. An output with latest log messages similar to one below will be shown. I had 2 options on my mind: local ELK and lnav. I've been recommending it for the last 7 years since I discovered this awesome little underappreciated util. LNAV () is ideally suited for this kind of thing, with an embedded sqlite engine and what amounts to a local laptop-scale mini-ETL toolkit w/ a nice CLI. The following log files are supported by default even if they are compressed with gzip or bzip2: Common Web Access Log format. Analyzing multi-gigabyte JSON files locally It can be done in any text editor, but there may be a better way thanks to lnav Log Files Navigator that allows checking those files more easily and efficiently in a Mac OS or Linux terminal. That said, lnav is quite powerful and reasonably easy to use and can grab a directory of log files from a remote server over SSH. I'd be interested in a native Mac app that does this. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Biscuit love downtown franklin“I was named after him, but my mom had this weird K thing,” Worley explains with a shrug.Ī chef during World War II, the first Carl returned to Bristol, Tennessee, and opened an eponymous deli and convenience store on the main drag to South Holston Lake. Worley grew up in rural southern Appalachia, riding the bus to school an hour round the mountain with “all the other poor kids.” As a boy, he lived in a trailer with his parents and two older siblings (Kelly and Kerri) on his paternal grandfather Carl’s farm. When that success allowed them to open the restaurant, the menu expanded, but most of the dishes still came with a signature biscuit inspired by his childhood.īiscuit Love bakers stamp out between 1,400 and 1,500 biscuits each day. Favorites emerged: the East Nasty, a boneless chicken thigh, sausage gravy, and aged cheddar wedged into a biscuit ( Bon Appétit would name it the best sandwich of 2015), and the Princess, Worley’s take on the Nashville hot chicken craze. The grind also spawned a devoted following and national acclaim. “We worked twenty-one hours a day and earned eight hundred dollars in a good week. “Food trucks are tough,” he allows, lifting his brow. He got home around 2:00 a.m., which allowed him three hours of sleep before getting up to start the process again. There is no way,’ but Sarah talked me off the ledge.”īy 5:00 p.m., an exhausted Worley had met his sixty-biscuit quota. “I was bawling my eyes out,” he says candidly. He began baking at five o’clock that morning in a borrowed commissary, stopping around noon to phone his wife in a biscuit panic. “I knew I had to sell sixty biscuits to break even.” “On the day we launched the food truck in April 2012, we had thirty dollars left in our bank account and an eighteen-month-old baby,” Worley recalls. He sips his cappuccino, peeking under the lid to make sure the barista bothered to add the latte leaf flourish even in a to-go cup (she has), and reveals that the second Biscuit Love outpost will occupy the very restaurant where he and Sarah shared their first date, a romantic detail that tickles him every time he thinks about it, given how far they have come from their modest start less than five years ago. Worley settles into a chair, and a plate of Bonuts arrives: thrice-rolled biscuit dough stuffed with lemon curd and whipped mascarpone filling, a dish he invented in honor of his wife’s birthday. Next time, as it turns out, is soon, as Biscuit Love’s second location (five miles from the first) is nearing the end of construction with an eye toward a February opening. To meet demand, Karl Worley (pictured here, at Biscuit Love) and his wife, Sarah, plan to open a second location nearby in February. But every time I see them, I wish we’d ripped ’em the hell up.” “I still hate these tiles,” he says, jabbing a finger toward the beige floor, one of the few decorative vestiges of Kocktails & Kouture. Worley walks toward a table in the back of the restaurant, wrinkling his nose as he goes. “It was black walls and spray-painted chandeliers,” Worley recalls of the space that would become the airy, bright brick-and-mortar iteration of what began with his and his wife’s thriving food truck. The tight setup was designed by the owners of the building’s original occupant: Kocktails & Kouture, a combination nightclub and retail shop, which was, surprisingly, not owned by the Kardashians. Worley nods and smiles, then ducks into the narrow pass-through cooler, where he says good morning to the cooks gathering supplies before popping out the other side behind the bar. “You about done?” one of the kitchen staff teases, snapping an apron at Worley as he tests the strength of his repaired shelf. Worley, who is thirty-eight, along with his wife, Sarah, thirty-six, is the owner of Biscuit Love, a revered Nashville breakfast and lunch joint that since its 2015 opening has drawn hour-long lines on weekdays, due in part to the attention to detail currently on display. and the Tennessee- born chef Karl Worley is drilling a screw into the wall, much to the chagrin of his eager prep staff. 8/4/2023 0 Comments Lebron james twitter headerTrotting out all of this white space is a bold move, and stands in stark contrast to the covers offered by the Daily News and Post. LeBron, Stewart ejected after LeBron swipes Stewart in the face (2:49) After LeBron James elbows Isaiah Stewart in the face, both teams have to be separated multiple times. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James dominated on the football field in high school before becoming a star in the NBA. Of course, it’s possible the New York Times knows something the rest of the media world doesn’t, but it would seem logical for them to report that scoop instead of “burying” it in front-page agate. The only fly in the ointment is the notion James may not have signed with Cleveland yesterday. It’s usually just there to fill empty space and entertain only the most voracious of print-media readers. It’s been a long time since agate has had a chance to bask in the glory like this. OK, this is cool, /I22TZAUoZp- Caitlin Kelly July 12, 2014 Yesterday’s biggest sports story was announced today with the smallest font on the cover of the New York Times sports section. The subscription model gives you access to the latest features, which include dynamic asset management and a faster adjustments docker for photo editing. Just to make things more confusing, the latter itself comes in two versions, with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2021 available for a one-off payment but the new 2022 version requiring a subscription. It's now available in two formats: in CorelDRAW Standard, which is marketed to amateur enthusiasts, and CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, which is a larger package of tools aimed at professional designers. Once the market leader in vector design, CorelDRAW lost some of its popularity to Adobe Illustrator, but it still has legions of loyal fans and it continues to upgrade its offering to keep up with most of the features offered by competitors. Still more expensive than some newer alternatives See our full Affinity Designer review for more details. There are no subscription fees, but you still get software updates when they're released, making it a lot more affordable in the long term, or even medium term. But the best part, of course, is that you only have to make a one-time payment, and a fairly reasonable one at that. It can handle both Illustrator AI and Photoshop PSD files, so you don't have to worry about compatibility if colleagues or clients work with Adobe's software. In fact, Affinity Designer even offers some tools you don't get on Illustrator, such as infinite redos and one million per cent-plus zoom, and we found that it tends to run faster than Adobe illustrator too. Available for a one-off payment, Affinity Designer comes closest out of all the software we've tried in matching the breadth of Illustrator's feature set. The most notable contender is Serif's Affinity Designer. If you're put off by the hefty monthly or annual cost of Adobe's subscription model, there are now some serious alternatives as the best graphic design software for vector design. 8/3/2023 0 Comments Vivi bubble tea san diegoReally good boba quality overall, definitely the go-to for many of my peers.
